EDuke32 is a free source port of Ken Silverman's Build engine and is used by many total conversion and mod teams for the Duke Nukem games and their expansions. It also supports a few other games built on the same engine, such as Ion Fury and Shadow Warrior (via VoidSW). The EDuke32 project is based on Silverman's Build code and features a map editor called Mapster32 and a level viewer/editor named Wangulator. It is free for non-commercial use and has a number of frontends. The most popular of these is XDuke, which can be downloaded and used on almost any platform.
Other frontends include dEuke32, which uses the OpenGL renderer Polymost and has good graphics, and bMouse, which improves vertical aiming by removing an engine limitation that forces you to use one mouse axis at a time for aim. EDuke32 is not intended to replace the official DOS release or the 3D Realms-authorized patch, but it does have some advantages. For example, it has a more flexible sprite engine and supports many higher resolutions than the original game. It also has an improved version of the CON scripting language and a wide range of mods and user-created content.
The dEuke32 Wii project (which is not affiliated with EDuke32 or its developers) has a version of EDuke32 for the Nintendo Wii. This is a more stable and feature-complete port than XDuke, but it still does not support network games.
